Jumping Deer

I sculpted and cast a bronze deer and set it against a fabricated silver backing.  She is surrounded by ruby zoysite and fiery carnelian.  Where did this idea come from?  Take a look at the artifact on the lower right. I think it's a Persian design.  Click on the photos to enlarge the design.

Scythian Deer

I modified a Scythian-style deer and cast it in shibuichi, an alloy of silver an copper.  The deer is surrounded by moss agate, drops of copper leaves, and amythest.  Who were the Scythians?  They were Iron Age horse riders who roamed what is now Persia and Kazakhstan.  Their jewelry and horse bridal designs influended a wide area including China, Siberia, and Davis jewelers.
